From a Streetlight to the Sun: Rocky's 59 Days The first photograph we have of Rocky was taken at night on Katira Road, Arrah. He was alone. He was starving. He couldn't lift his head much. That was March 6. Over the next 59 days, our team brought him in, treated severe mange that had taken nearly all of his fur, fed him back to a healthy weight, and watched a wary, beaten-down dog become curious again. Then social. Then bright-eyed. Then this — the dog you see at the end of this reel, standing in the morning sun, calm enough to look right at the lens. Rocky's story isn't unusual. What's unusual is having the resources to see it through. Every recovery — every vaccination, every sterilization, every month of mange treatment — is paid for by people who decided that an animal they will never meet was worth helping anyway. 🌡️ They Can't Ask for Shade. We Have to Give It. An urgent summer appeal from Stray Insight Foundation Summer in Ara is brutal. By May, the temperature will push past 42°C. The concrete burns. The water bowls dry up in minutes. And for the rescued dogs recovering in our shelter — dogs who've already survived accidents, infections, neglect — the heat becomes one more thing their bodies have to fight. We're writing to ask for your help before it gets worse. What we need, and why: Right now, our shelter has no cooling system. The rescued animals in our care — many still healing from surgeries, skin conditions, or severe malnutrition — are spending the hottest months in rooms where the air barely moves. Heatstroke isn't a risk we can afford. Neither is dehydration. Neither is losing a dog we fought for weeks to save. We're raising funds this summer for two essentials: 🌀 Air coolers for the recovery and kennel areas — to bring temperatures down to something survivable for animals who are already medically vulnerable. ⚡ Electricity bills through May, June, and July — coolers, fans, and lights running through 14+ hours of daily heat add up to a bill we simply can't cover alone.
